Overview
Alinear does not require an account with the developer. The current release has no advertising, cross-app tracking, or third-party analytics, and the developer does not operate a server that receives your treatment or wear data.
Information handled by Alinear
The app handles information that you enter or create while using it, including:
- treatment settings such as planned aligner count, change interval, and daily wear goal;
- aligner start dates and progress; and
- wear-session start and end times.
This information is used only to provide the app’s timer, history, calendar, statistics, reminders, and cross-device synchronization.
Storage and iCloud sync
Your Alinear data is stored on your devices. When iCloud is available, Apple CloudKit syncs it through the private database associated with your Apple account so it can remain consistent across your iPhone and Apple Watch.
The developer does not receive this data through a developer-controlled server. Apple processes iCloud data under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy.
Notifications
If you grant permission, Alinear schedules wear and aligner-change reminders locally through Apple’s notification system. Your notification permission and scheduled reminders are managed on your device and are not sent to the developer.
Backups and imports
When you choose to export a backup, Alinear creates a JSON file containing your treatment, aligner, and wear-session data. You decide where to save or share that file using Apple’s system share controls. Alinear does not upload the backup to the developer.
If you import a backup, its contents are read on your device and become part of your local and, when available, private iCloud data.
Retention and deletion
Your data remains on your devices and in your private iCloud database until you remove it. You can delete individual sessions or reset Alinear data in the app; those changes are synchronized to your other devices when iCloud is available.
Deleting the app from one device may not remove data already stored in iCloud. You can manage iCloud storage through Apple’s device settings.
Children’s privacy
Alinear is not directed to children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Medical notice
Alinear is a routine and adherence companion. It does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment advice, or clinical decision-making and is not a substitute for guidance from your dentist or orthodontist.
Changes to this policy
If Alinear’s data practices change, this policy will be updated before or when the relevant app update is released. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the latest version.
